EYE BANK
Eye bank are non-profit organization responsible for collection, preservation and distribution of donated eye tissue for corneal transplant, research and education.
In our institute SLMCH, we started an eye bank to collect cornea from donor and preserve it in Mac carey Kauffmann media and using the donor cornea for transplant.
We are creating awareness among the patients and students about the importance of eye donation and advising them to pledge their eyes and issuing them the eye donor card.
Our SLMCH institute recognized by Government of Tamilnadu for Eye bank and Keratoplasty under the Human organ transplantation act since April 2025.
